Our Story - The Colin C. Kittrell Memorial Scholarship is a non-profit organization created to generate awareness of the dangers of distracted driving. In December of 2021, a young 17 year old driver was on her phone and hit Colin head on. The distracted driver, her passenger, and Colin all died on impact. His smile and laughter was contagious and he loved his family and friends immensely. Hunting was his passion. Our lives have forever been changed from the loss of his precious soul. Our hearts are broken.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. Psalms 34:18

The Colin C Kittrell Memoral Scholarship Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of the Colin C. Kittrell Scholarship for 2025 as Tyler Shakespehear and Landon Darnell from GMC. Our "School Choice" recipient is Emerson Cooke with UHC. This auspicious event marks the second year awarding of this essay-based scholarship on distracted driving. The scholarship is reflective of the hard work and commitment to educating themselves and others on the dangers of distracted driving.

Our Vision - To honor the vibrant life of Colin Christopher Kittrell by awarding an annual scholarship to graduating seniors of his alma mater, Greer Middle College Charter High School (GMC). Our love for Colin and our fond memories of him -- his contagious smile, laughter, and love of people -- have moved us to create this scholarship. Colin would be very proud to know that his heart and kindness drives us to continue his legacy of believing in people and living life to the fullest.

Upcoming Events-

Our Mission - The Colin C. Kittrell Memorial Scholarship Foundation was created in 2023 to raise awareness of the dangers of distracted driving. Distracted Driving is not just texting and driving, it goes beyond these behaviors. Did you know that in 2021 3,522 lives were lost due to distracted driving according to the NHTSA website? www.nhtsa.gov
“Distracted driving is any activity that diverts attention from driving, including talking or texting on your phone, eating and drinking, talking to people in your vehicle, fiddling with the stereo, entertainment or navigation system. Texting is the most alarming distraction. Sending or reading a text takes your eyes off the road for 5 seconds. At 55 mph, that's like driving the length of an entire football field with your eyes closed. You cannot drive safely unless the task of driving has your full attention” www.nhtsa.gov
General Donation - Your generous donation will help fund the Colin C. Kittrell Memorial Scholarship Foundation. Each year our goal is to award a graduating senior from his alma mater, Greer Middle College Charter High School (GMC), with a one time scholarship. This combined with the state scholarship that is made available to all students who meet the state requirements, will help the student during their first year of college with educational expenses. Please made checks payable to "The Colin Kittrell Schlorship Foundation" and mail to Edward Jones, 420 The Parkway Suite Q, Greer, SC 29650 OR scan the Venmo below.
